AI SIX Podcast Episode 443: Lee Walker Turns a Workplace Problem into an AI Business

By

Lee Walker had no coding background, no tech training, and no grand startup ambitions — just a messy fleet management problem at work. In this episode, he shares how he used vibe coding to build Quick Wing, an AI-powered fleet management platform, in under a week over Christmas.

From Spreadsheets and Text Messages to an AI-Powered Platform

Lee works in home care coordination in Ireland, and part of his job involved managing company vehicles across two counties, roughly twenty-plus staff, and a similar number of cars. The system was chaotic — spreadsheets, text messages, emails, things getting lost constantly. Sound familiar? So over Christmas, he sat down and decided to fix it.

He started by asking ChatGPT what was even possible, stumbled across vibe coding, and the rest, as they say, is history.

What Is Vibe Coding and How Did It Work for Lee?

Vibe coding is where you describe what you want to an AI system that codes in real time — no technical background needed. You’re essentially having a conversation with the model, seeing changes happen live, and refining as you go. Lee’s biggest lesson from the process?

  • Be specific. Vague prompts lead to the AI interpreting what it thinks you want — and it won’t be what you want.
  • He used Replit first, found it too complex, then switched to Emergent — and described it as “night and day.”
  • He sent roughly 15,000 to 20,000 prompts across the build process.

From Idea to Office in One Week

Lee went from sitting down at his laptop to bringing a working prototype into the office in about five to six days of solid work. He then spent two months fine-tuning, fixing bugs, and testing it in a live operational environment. One memorable moment — he accidentally paused the entire app and had staff unable to book cars. His advice from that experience: write everything down. He literally has a Quick Wing notebook documenting every decision, every mistake, every win.

The Results Are Hard to Argue With

Quick Wing is now automating 70% of car management processes across the office. Think about what that means in practice — NCT compliance tracking, insurance, servicing, cleaning schedules, real-time booking, QR code check-ins. Across 20-plus vehicles, that’s hours of admin saved every single week. Lee even built an ROI calculator on the Quick Wing website so businesses can plug in their own numbers and see the financial case.

Where Lee Is Taking This Next

What started as an internal tool is now being used in a second office, and Lee’s ambition is for Quick Wing to become the standard fleet management solution across his entire organisation — and beyond. He’s eyeing businesses with fleets of five to fifty vehicles, from tradespeople to ambulance services. He’s also exploring support from Enterprise Ireland and the LEOs.

Why This Story Matters for All of Us

Lee said something that really stuck with me: “AI is not something to be worried about. It’s something to embrace.” Six months ago he didn’t know what vibe coding was. Now he’s running a platform that’s saving his organisation significant admin time and has real commercial potential. The best AI solutions are being built by the people closest to the problem — and that could absolutely be you.
